Andy Flower shares the blame for England’s whitewash – Cricket News Update
England’s head Coach; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362 has shared the blame for his team’s abysmal showing against the Indians, and hopes for a turnaround when the Poms travel to the sub-continent in 2013.
The Men In Blue were clearly the better team, out maneuvering the Poms in all departments to inflict a humiliating white-wash in the five match One Day International series.
The grey area picked by the coach was the batting line-up, who failed to combat the spinners of their opponent. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238, two Indian spinners spun the ball appreciably and did most of the damage throughout the series.
The final match saw the same chain of events repeated by the duo, who bagged seven wickets between them to clean up the opposition, who at one stage were 129 for no loss (chasing 272), however, managed to lose all ten wickets for 47 runs.
This all happened despite the team travelling to the sub-continent 10 days prior to the start of the first ODI, which also included two warm-games.
Flower, in his humble manner shared the blame of a debacle trip, claiming that the batters just weren’t prepared to combat spin.
"My belief was that our preparation was good," said Flower."But looking back at a 5-0 defeat, I've got to question that.”
"We've all got to take personal responsibility for this result. I head up this tour, so it's got to start with me - without a doubt. I have got to question how we have prepared our batsmen for this series," added Flower.
Since taking the job as the head coach of the Poms, Flower has managed to guide the team to the pinnacles of Test cricket, where they have beaten the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test Ranking.
With ODI supremacy high on the agenda, the former Zimbabwean hopes that his side is better equipped to face the challenges of playing in the sub-continent, the next time his team visit here in 2013.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 sides historically have not done well here. We come back here in 14 months' time for a seven-match one-day series, and we have to be better.
