Andy Flower speaks up on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Prior-c1984 window Breaking Incident
The England coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Flower believes that the incident will soon be left behind by the English wicketkeeper/ batsman and the cricket fans as well as critics, need to do the same as the incident was not planned, nor did Matt have any intentions of harming the window.
Speaking to a group of newsmen, Flower while supporting Prior said, “I do know him well, and he is a good man, there was no real malicious intent at all.”
Flower who was present in the dressing room at the time of the incident, revealed that he was an eyewitness to the whole debacle and Prior never hit the window with his bat, according to him, the bat just ricocheted off the other bats and hit the window,
smashing the glass.
“It was a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Timothy-Raymond-Ambrose-c94079 accident, but definitely an accident. It is a shame that people will think anything other than that it is not a major incident by any stretch of the imagination, and everybody should put it behind them really.” He stressed.
However, the English coach pointed out that had the incident been something more than a mere accident then it should have been investigated further but since there is nothing serious in the whole debacle, it was time to move on and leave it behind.
Earlier, Prior had apologized to a woman who had been cut by the glass which fell on her after the window was shattered. According to sources the woman did not receive any serious injuries and refrained from pressing charges against anyone.
The incident which took place on the last day of the Lord’s Test, over shadowed the outcome of the match which ended in a draw after some nerve wreaking final day’s play. Prior who made only four runs on the last day, was run-out in a mix up which was reason
for his frustration as he threw his bat after coming back to the dressing room.
However, the batsman was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) because of his careless actions which may have caused serious damage to life and property at the Lord’s.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will not be investigating the matter any further.
