http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 a ‘naïve’ activity – Cricket News Update
Former Zimbabwean player and current English coach, Andy Flower, has asked the English slow left-arm orthodox bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Dermott-Monteith-c65601 Panesar, to avoid helping the Indian legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar in net practice, saying that it is immature to give practice
to the rival players.
Last week, English skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 was shocked to know that the 29-year-old Panesar had been bowling to Tendulkar for a long time in the nets.
However, it was also claimed in a report in ‘the Sun’, that the left-armer, Panesar, could have shared some important tips with the Indian maestro, although he was not a part of the team for the series against India.
Earlier, an English Cricket Board spokesperson claimed that the board had not allowed Panesar to practice with Tendulkar.
"If Monty did have a session with him (Tendulkar), it was not arranged by us. He must have used his own contacts," the ECB spokesperson claimed.
The 43-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 coach, Flower, was also surprised that Panesar was practicing with Tendulkar and termed the activity as ‘naïve’.
While talking to media, Flower said, "He did bowl to him in the nets before Lord's and I think that it is quite a naive thing to do."
Flower, who has played 63 Test matches for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, scoring 4794 runs, said that although Monty was not in the team, it was still not the right thing to do.
"I haven't spoken to him yet but one would hope he understands that it won't happen again," Flower added.
However, Tendulkar failed to fire for his side in the 1st Test against the Poms. He was brilliantly dismissed by England pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 on just 34 runs in the first innings. In the 2nd innings, he was given leg-before-wicket in
James Anderson’s over, on just 12 runs.
According to Flower, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, after having a gruelling defeat in the inaugural Test match with a big margin of 196 runs, can make a roaring comeback in the 2nd Test, scheduled at Nottingham on 29 July.
"India are a very fine side and they didn't get to the world No.1 spot by being poor and by not fighting back," Flower claimed.
