Andy Lee: I am destined to come out of the ring with the title around my waist – Boxing News
Andy Lee, the current NABA middleweight champion, in a recent media interaction commented that he is ready to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Junior adding that June 16 is his date and he is destined to come out of the ring on that date with the belt round his
waist.
Andy and Julio Junior are scheduled to take on each other in a 12-round bout which will have the latter’s WBC middleweight gold on the line. The bout will headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank.
The ring for the bout will be set up at Sun Bowl arena situated in El Paso, Texas, United States and the showdown will be televised live on June 16, 2012 on HBO’s weekly boxing show. The event will be co-headlined by the non-title 10-round bout between Vanes
Martirosyan and Ryan Davis.
Lee, 28, is a surging Irish pugilist who has been in a total 29 bouts. The young lad has nailed 28 opponents and 20 of them via knockout. Andy shared his thoughts about his upcoming bout during a media get-together after completing the daily training session.
Andy and his coach Emanuel Steward are pretty confident that they will bag a win on Saturday’s eve and are concentrating on developing strategies to counter Julio in the early rounds of the bout. While replying to a question about Julio Junior, Emanuel stated
that he has in a very young age achieved much and had been busy for the last 12-months in winning titles and revamping his skills.
Steward remarked that despite all what Julio has been doing in his recent career, the Mexican will face an entirely different opponent in the form of Andy. Emanuel further added that Andy is in his prime and above all he has strived hard in his past bouts
just to reach at this spot that is a title bout.
Andy, who recently collided with Alex Bunema to grab the vacant NABF and NABA middleweight titles, stated, “I relish this opportunity to fight for and win the WBC middleweight title; I have never been more ready to win the title. I am totally focused on
the fight and I’m ready to care of business come fight night.”
Lee further added, “Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been a proud champion and has kept himself busy in the last 12 months since winning the title, but I will be too strong and have too much ring craft for him. I will be the fighter who will leaving town as the
new champion, this is my date with destiny.”
Julio is entering the bout with an impressive resume. The 26-year-old Mexican has nailed 45 of his total 47 opponents and is on an undefeated streak. The bout will definitely be an explosive one as both are considered as ace pugilists in the middleweight
division.
