Andy Lee: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is predicable and has never collided with a southpaw – Boxing News
Andy Lee, the current NABA middleweight champion and the man who will take on Julio Cesar Chavez Junior in upcoming bout, remarked that Julio is a predictable pugilist who throws large number of jabs adding that my southpaw advantage is the biggest as Cesar
has never collided with one.
Lee recently gave a detailed interview, putting forth his point of view on various matters such as his strategy and training for the upcoming venture, his analysis and understanding of Chavez Junior and his disadvantages and advantages over his opponent.
When asked as to what he thinks about Chavez Junior in general as a brawler, Andy stated, “He is a good fighter, strong and aggressive. He can box, too, when he wants to. He seems to be a good puncher and seems to have a good chin, as well. I believe both
of us are very offensive fighters and this will make for a very interesting fight on Saturday evening.”
Andy will take on the toughest opponent of his career on Saturday June 16, 2012 at Sun Bowl arena situated in El Paso, Texas, United States. Julio will defend his WBC middleweight gold and will headline the extravaganza against Andy Lee.
The special Saturday night HBO pay-per-view is being organised and promoted by Bob Arum of Top Rank and will also witness Miguel Vazquez and Daniel Attah collide with each other in the co-main event.
Lee, who has received just one loss in a total 29 bouts, further added that after watching Julio’s fight videos in detail he has discovered certain major deficiencies in the champion’s brawling style.
Andy was of the view that Cesar’s defence is not strong and can be penetrated easily which enables in fact aids his opponents to throw clean jabs. Lee remarked that he will try his level best to capitalise such moments.
The Irish pounder also explained the reason that has motivated and somewhat increased his confidence level. Andy stated, “Well, he never fought a southpaw before. He has sparred with a lot of southpaws in preparation for this fight, but it's a different
thing when you get nailed by a sparring partner compared to a real fight. I think it will be a great advantage for me, because he's never seen anybody like me before in the ring.”
Julio, 26, will defend his title for the third consecutive time and is dubbed as a pretty lethal pugilist who has nailed some of the best and respectable names in the division. Chavez Junior has been in a total 47 bouts and boasts an undefeated streak.
