The New Zealand fast bowler Andy McKay has been ruled out of the two Test match series against Pakistan. The left-arm fast bowler was a doubtful starter following his side strain.
McKay was hopeful to recover from his injury but the board confirmed that he will not be a part of the series that starts from Friday, at Hamilton. He will be replaced by the veteran fast bowler Daryl Tuffey.
Tuffey was also having some injury concerns, and due to that, he missed the series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. He hasn’t been a regular member of the Kiwi Test team and has mostly been part of the ODI team.
Tuffey has only featured in four Test matches in the last six and a half years; his last Test match was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 last year. He was out due to a bicep-strain but has recovered from it now.
The New Zealand cricket team has been hit by many injury problems in the recent past. Star fast bowler Shane Bond retired from cricket due to continuous injuries. Jacob Oram is another big name in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 cricket that is out of action due to his injury
concerns.
Another fast bowler, Hamish Bennet, has also disappeared from international cricket since he sustained an injury during a Test match against India. He impressed with his pace but was unable to keep himself fit enough to play any form of competitive cricket.
The New Zealand team will be hoping that their players remain fit during the Pakistan series. With the World Cup nearing, some of the key players will be looking to maintain their fitness to the optimum level.
The kiwi team is scheduled to host two Test matches and six ODIs against Pakistan before the start of the World Cup and the series is very important for both the teams considering their form in the recent past.
Both the teams have already played a three-match Twenty20 series and the series has been won by the hosts with a 2-1 margin. The first Test between the two teams starts from 7th January.
