Andy Murray breezes past Yen-Hsun Lu to enter round three – Wimbledon Championships 2013
Last year’s runner-up, Andy Murray, got the better of the Taiwanese challenger, Yen-Hsun Lu, in straight sets at the Wimbledon Championships 2013 on Wednesday. He jolted down a 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 score line against the Taiwanese to secure a spot in the third
round at this third of the four Grand Slam events taking place in London, United Kingdom.
Seeded second in this event, Murray displayed brilliant tennis to outclass the Taiwanese in their second encounter this season. As a result, he kept his dreams alive to conquering this Grand Slam event.
The Olympic gold medallist, Murray, was quoted in a courtside interview after stealing the show, “He started off pretty good and then I think he had a few break points at 2 2 in the first set. Then when I saved them, I started to settle down a bit and he
made a few more mistakes. The third set was high quality. I was putting a lot of pressure on him and he kept coming up with some good shots on break points. So I did well to finish it in three sets."
Murray high-spiritedly entered this match and held his opening serve with poise. He then warded off all three breakpoints he faced to keep his remaining serves. The Scot cashed one out of three break chances and clinched the opener with a 6-3 score line
in almost half hour.
Ranked second in the world, Murray kept momentum rolling in the following set. He swiftly bagged his entire serves without facing any hindrance. The Scot availed two out of six break chances and clicked the set with a 6-3 win.
The Dunblane native maintained consistency in his game in the third set. He swiftly held his entire serves without facing any breakpoint. Murray got the breakthrough near the end and sealed the set by winning seven games to five.
Up next for Murray is the former world number five, Tommy Robredo from Spain.
“He's a tough player," the Brit reflected about his next match-up. "He had a good win today against Mahut, who has been playing well on the grass. He's very, very experienced.”
The 32nd seed outclassed the French wild card entrant, Nicolas Mahut, with a 7-6(3), 6-1, 7-6(5) win. Robredo is eyeing to go beyond fourth round at this Major grass court tournament. He is enjoying a successive comeback after recovering from
a serious left knee injury.
