Andy Murray defeats Jeremy Chardy; qualifies for the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters
The British number one tennis ace Andy Murray snatched a place for the ATP World Tour Finals after hammering his French rival Jeremy Chardy in the second round of the Shanghai Masters tennis tournament in Shanghai.
The current world number four Scot showed his brilliance by outclassing the Frenchman Chardy pretty mercilessly. It was a pretty convincing two-setter battle for Murray which he won 6-3 and 6-4.
The recent win against Jeremy Chardy has granted Murray a place in the World Tour Finals which will be held in London next month. The second round match of the Shanghai Masters was no doubt a big match for the British veteran as
the victory has given him a place to enter in the season’s final and prestigious tournament.
After the match, when the twenty-three-year-old Scot was asked about his special victory against Jeremy Chardy, he expressed his views pretty excitedly and told the media that the result has been great for him and so far he is
very happy with the way everything has gone as he was very well aware of the importance of the match’s result. Murray added that he knew that it was a big match for him as if he won the match he would qualify for the bigger event in London. He continued that
he was feeling very nervous about the match but he is satisfied with the way he has performed.
Andy Murray has been facing some problems with his health but it seems he is now training hard to attain better physical fitness. The way he has performed in the Shanghai Masters tournament is no doubt remarkable.
Murray seemed very conscious about his match against Chardy and made a very hesitant start. As compared to Murray, his twenty-three-year-old French rival Chardy displayed a better game in the first set of the match. Murray lost
three crucial points and Chardy displayed some brilliant tennis and clutched three break points from the world number four.
After that, the Briton recovered strongly and started to show his class pretty bluntly. Murray broke the Frenchman’s serve and gained control over the first set of the match. Chardy also had some good chances of getting back into
the match as he had some break points in the fifth and seventh games of the first set but it seemed like it was not a lucky day for the Frenchman. Murray served well and firmly grasped the lead of the match by winning the first set.
In the second set, Chardy failed to take two break points in the third game. Chardy seemed to struggle as the Englishman was proving to be a bit too tough an opposition for him. The Frenchman showed a weaker game in the second
set as compared to his game in the first set of the match. Andy took the complete advantage of his opponent’s distress and snatched the victory gloriously.
It is also to be noticed that there was very little crowd present to watch the match but Murray seemed not so concerned about that as well. He expressed his thoughts and said that it was not a big deal for him as he was not lacking
the motivation for the match. He added that the weather is pretty humid in Shanghai and he was sweating very badly during the match and when he is sweating, he feels that he is completely in the match. So to him, a crowd doesn’t matter if he is ready to give
his full in the match.
Andy Murray will now face another French ace Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the next round of the tournament.
In the other important matches of the tournament the Serbian ace tennis star and current world number two Novak Djokovic saw off his rival Richard Gasquet by 6-1 6-1 and successfully qualified for the top eight stages of the tournament.
