Andy Murray destroys Jeremy Chardy in second round fixture – BNP Paribas Masters 2011
Andy Murray, Brit world No.3, hammered his 2nd round competitor of BNP Paribas Masters 2011, Jeremy Chardy, French world No.110, to secure his 15th consecutive win on hard indoor courts. It took the Brit an
hour and 19 minutes to finish off the Frenchman 6-2, 6-4 and onto the third round of the event.
Kicking off with the match, Chardy, Frenchman ignited the starter. However, as he opened up serving first, Murray broke the Frenchman early in the set, and took the lead, 1-0, following with a service winner, game two, to increase
his lead to two games to nil.
Chardy continued with his second serve of the set and yet again, fell short of making any changes to his side of the scoreboard. Breaking the Frenchman for the second time in three games, Brit bagged his third consecutive win of
the set followed by a service winner, fourth win, to lead the set, 4-nil.
Finally, breaking the silence, world no 110, Frenchman, won his first game, game five, of the set one, however, was unable to make any difference to the Brit’s momentum. Serving out game six, Murray was now left with one more win
to finish off the set. Serving out one of the last two games, world No.3, pocketed the set and went on to play the next.
Chardy, struggling in the first set, started of the second with a much more positive start as he rolled down the scoreboard, 1-0, followed by the Brit levelling the scores up, 1-1. The two rallied out a game each next, 2-2, before
the world No.3 struck.
Breaking the world No.110 in game five, 3-2, Murray stormed away bagging another winner, service winner, to lead the set, 4-2. Chardy did cover up serving out game seven, 4-3, however, could not break back to even up the scores.
Maintaining his lead, Murray kept on bagging sets of his serve and finally finished of the fixture desolating the world No. 110 in the second set, 6-4, and winning in straight sets.
Although the Frenchman played tough, however, he was still no match for the fiery Brit. Making his way into the third round of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, Murray now moves on to play his next fixture against the American
former world No.1, Andy Roddick, to battle out the quarter-final seat of BNP Paribas Masters 2011.
Predictably, Murray has a better chance of winning the fixture as the world No.3 has been in magnificent form bagging the Asian Trio and making his jump for world No.4 to world No.3. Anyhow, if the American fireball keeps his nerves
he might as well get away with a win.
