Andy Murray enters the race with time to recover before the French Open – Tennis News

British number one, Andy Murray, faced an upset in the third round at the hands of the French tennis ace, Richard Gasquet, in Rome. It was a major disappointment for the Britons who were waiting to witness the Scot fulfil his promises.
However, it’s been a rough ride for Murray so far and he has not been able to live up to the expectations of the people; always left the fans dejected.
The 25-year-old Scot revealed that he is suffering from a chronic back injury that was the major factor in his loss on Thursday. It’s been almost six months now that he is suffering from this back pain and despite resting for a
while (missed the Mutua Madrid Open), the things looks ominous for the fourth ranked professional.
In a post-match interview, he said, “My back was a little bit sore towards the end, but I was expecting that coming into the tournament. I've had it a while, since December. Obviously since then there hasn't been that much time
to take an extended break. You try to take one at the right moment. With the French Open, Wimbledon, Olympics and US Open there's not much time to take a rest. Obviously now is the best time to do it, so hopefully by the time the French Open comes around I'll
be in peak condition. That's the goal."
He is hopeful of entering the French Open fully fit but it doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment. Year’s second Grand Slam tournament starts in nine days and the British number one is still fighting the niggling injury. The
problem can erupt at any stage of the tournament so expecting that he will go through it without being hurt; it’s like hoping against the hope.
Murray had an emphatic record against French players over the course of years. No one has been able to see him through at any stage and he holds a terrific record 40-1 against the French players in his previous 41 matches excluding
the third round clash, contested in Rome on Thursday.
He hasn’t won the Grand Slam title all his life and this was another opportunity for the Scot to end the drought but the conditions are against him. He is fighting the war with time to recover before the Roland Garros French Open.
Let’s hope that he is fully fit so the competition is enhanced in Paris, France.
