Andy Murray expects more upsets in Wimbledon Championships – Tennis News
World number four, Andy Murray, expects a lot more upsets at All England Lawn Tennis Club during the Wimbledon Championships this season. He believes that the domination of the Top-4 players is on the verge of an end and some eye-startling
characters will break in to make the game more interesting and competitive.
Lukas Rosol, a tennis professional from Czech Republic, came up with one of the biggest upset of the tournament. He ousted the second ranked Spanish star, Rafael Nadal, in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships in an epic
five-setter. He was the first to establish a foundation for more major upsets to come and the Scot is convinced that Nadal is not going to be the only player to be a victim of shocking results.
The Top-3 players in the world; Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer has dominated the world of tennis for almost a decade; sharing 28 of the last 29 Grand Slam titles amongst themselves. They have created a stronghold
in the field of tennis and are always seen amongst the last four players in almost every tournament they contest. It is becoming boring for the tennis fans and shocks always bring a new dimension to the play.
Murray commented, “I think upsets are part of any sport. Some people like them. I'm sure Rafa has a lot of fans that wouldn't have been too happy about it. But it's just part of sport. They (shocks) haven't happened that much over
the last few years in slams, but they will start happening more. I don't think consistency from the top players can continue that much."
Maybe the Scot is worried about his inability to win a Grand Slam title and is crafting an early excuse for the potential Wimbledon exit. He is under the cosh and the pressure of performing in front of the fans has taken a lot
of toll on him. He is looking good but the repetitive physio treatments during the matches are not favouring his cause. Ivan Lendl who is his mentor these days is also keeping a poker face about his performance. So, the time will unleash everything.
