Andy Murray is not totally obsessed with a Grand Slam crown – Tennis News
Briton number one, Andy Murray is in search of his first title Grand Slam for quiet a time now. He has been to the final of the event on three difference occasions but couldn’t earn the final glory and lost all the encounters.
History might repeat itself and Murray might step into the shoes of American former world number one Andre Agassi who also lost his three Grand Slam finals before recording eight titles to his name on three different playing surfaces.
It might be the case with Murray as well and next year will prove it as he looks to end the Grand Slam drought and add that title to his tally.
This year Australian Open saw Andy Murray to sail past his competitors into the final of the tournament against the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic, but luck didn’t swung his way and he lost to the stylish Serbian in
straight sets. While talking about that defeat Briton said “I could not do anything. He has been better and I will not put an injury excuse. Just had a very tough semi-final but lost by it. He could have played better and I did.”
He further added “if you're there one day come the results. But I'm not obsessed with the subject. Sometimes it does well and sometimes it doesn’t.” Djokovic was very optimistic about the fact that Murray will soon win the title.
While conducting the post-match press conference at Australian Open final this year, he said, “It's his third final and he didn't get the title, so it's a tough one. But I really have big respect for him and his game because I think he has everything it takes
to become a grand slam champion. I'm sure that very soon he will be."
World number four has accumulated five titles this year in ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangkok, ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Cincinnati and London / Queen's Club. He managed to qualify for the year-end finale at
O2 Arena, London but incurred an injury during his first round-robin match and had to retire from the tournament. This was the great disappointment for the local crowd as they were eagerly waiting to see their only local hero in action but he could merely
manage to extract anything out of that tournament.
He is expected to return to the courts next year in full form. His first chance to fulfil his Grand Slam dream starts in Australia (Australian Open) in January.
