Andy Murray is the most dangerous British athlete to search for online – Tennis News
Software Company, McAfee, conducted a search, where it looked for top athletes whose name is used by hackers and virus distributors to attack computers of home users.
It found out that Great Britain’s number one tennis player, Andy Murray, is the most dangerous among all of country’s athletes, if one is searching for online pictures and videos.
Online crime doers mostly use pictures and videos of famous celebrities as a bait to catch people in order to attack their personal computers. When one clicks on the link, a software is installed on the machine which extracts important
information stored within it like credit card details, passwords etc.
Murray is used to target online users because he is one of the most searched for celebrities these days. Last month, he became the first tennis player from Great Britain to reach the Wimbledon final since 1938. Although, he lost
to world number one, Roger Federer, in the final but his tears during the presentation ceremony won hearts of the nation.
The British number one tennis player shared the level of pressure that lies on him, when millions of his countrymen look on him to break the Wimbledon deadlock. Brits are desperate to see a local champion at the All England, as
none of the British players has won the title in the last 76 years.
The second most dangerous British athlete to search online is the football star, Ryan Giggs. On number three position in the list is Gymnast, Louis Smith, followed by Platform diver, Tom Daley, and Mark Cavendish on the fourth
and fifth spot respectively.
Serbian tennis star, Novak Djokovic, fastest person on the planet, Usain Bolt; and the most decorated Olympics of all time, Michael Phelps, are also on the overall list.
A statement by McAfee stated, "Other top athletes that are risky to search for include 100m dominator Usain Bolt, tennis player Novak Djokovic and swimmer Michael Phelps, highlighting the vast array of athletes targeted."
It further said, "Cyber-crooks keep their finger on the pulse and adapt their scams to appeal to whatever we're most likely to be searching for. Andy Murray has seen regular press attention in his battle to become a serious contender
in his sport, so it's no surprise that the bad guys have taken advantage of his popularity ".
Online searchers should always be cautious while looking for pictures and videos of their favourite celebrities, as their carelessness can harm them.
