Andy Murray names Roger Federer as ‘Fast Master’ – Tennis News
British number one, Andy Murray, can’t squeeze his way to his second title in 2012. He pulled up a heroic performance in the semi-final of the tournament to overpower the Serb world number one, Novak Djokovic, but was up against
the four time champion, Roger Federer, who was not going to waste an opportunity to record his fifth title triumph in Dubai Duty Free Championships.
Another name to the Swiss Maestro is been given by the Briton and its ‘Fast Master’. Murray proclaimed this in a post-match presentation ceremony on Saturday after receiving a runners-up trophy in Dubai. He added, “I think that
the indoor season and the surfaces like this one (in Dubai), if there was more tournaments on these courts, I think Federer could definitely be No.1 in the world for the next few years.”
Continuing praising the winner of the tournament, he further added, “It really suits his game well. Just so many of the courts are so slow now. It’s nice for us to get a change up like here. Some of the tournaments are so slow
it’s tough against so many guys that are moving well and serving big.”
Murray started this year with a title to his name. He was the top seed participant in the Brisbane International tournament and trashed the Ukrainian third seed participant, Alexandr Dolgopolov, in the final to register a victory.
The year’s first Grand Slam tournament was another successful journey for the Briton until the semi-finals where he faced the reigning champion, Djokovic and lost to him in one of the most gruelling matches of the tournament. This was his third tournament
of the year; so he has been performing extremely well in 2012 and will definitely get opportunities at a lot of titles later in the year.
It is good to see players ending the tournament in good spirit and looking ahead rather than pressing backwards and mourning their losses. It is always good for the welfare of the sport that has established a name all across the
globe. Murray is looking forward to raise his game and perform well in Miami and Indian Wells.
