Andy Murray recovers in the contest to take down Ryan Harrison – Australian Open 2012
World number four, Andy Murray of Great Britain, recovered from a one-set deficit in the contest to overwhelm the unseeded American opponent, Ryan Harrison, in his opening match of the Australian Open on Tuesday. The exciting battle
between one of the best in business and one of the most talented youngster provided sheer entertainment to the local crowd at the Hisense Arena of the Melbourne Park in Australia. The fourth seed Scott laboured for three hours and 12 minutes to conclude the
four-setter at 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, marching into the second round of the Grand Slam Down Under.
Murray delivered merely 54 per cent of his first serve on target but clinched 46 out of the 65 points on it to oust Harrison from the competition. The 77th ranked American bettered Murray by securing 50 out of 76 first
serve points in the match but couldn’t hold on to his serve consistently in the last three sets to finish on the losing side in the end.
The contest took off in a majestic fashion, with the 19-year-old American prodigy dominating over the world number four player. He drew first blood in the fifth game to stun everyone present at the Melbourne Park. Harrison nailed
another strike in the seventh game, only to be broken in the very next game but the American held his lead to close out the opener at 6-4.
Murray regrouped in the very next set to sting an early serve break in the fourth game to lead 3-1. The Scott kept one step ahead of Harrison in every segment of the game and pocketed the second set at 6-3. Once getting the momentum
on his side, Murray launched a series of forays in the third set to enforce his dominance over the youngster. He broke the American serve in the very first game and went on to seal the third set at 6-4.
Murray carried on his winning impetus to go for a kill in the fourth set. Cracking serve breaks in the third and seventh games of the set confirmed victory for Murray at 6-2, earning him a spot in the second round of the Australian
Open.
