Andy Murray reveals the secret of the US Open victory – Tennis News
World number three, Andy Murray, unleashed the secret behind his stupendous victory at the final of the US Open Championship in New York. Ironically, the reason behind his success wasn’t only the leadership of Ivan Lendl instead
it was the introduction of a sports psychologist who was recommended by his coach.
It has been a roller coaster ride for the number one Briton throughout his career; playing in the era of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal isn’t easy at all and he has found it extremely difficult to breakthrough to
the tennis’s biggest ever achievement; winning a Grand Slam. However, the ultimate landmark was finally accomplished by the 25-year-old Briton who ousted the defending champion from Serbia, Novak Djokovic, to claim the triumph.
Making few comments about his breakthrough at New York, Murray said, “When I first spoke to Ivan in December, he asked if I used a sports psychologist. I said no. He asked if I was open to it. I said that I was always open to try
things, try new people. Most times when I'd spoken to sports psychologists before, I ended up talking about the tennis court, what goes on there, ways to deal with the time in between points, all of that stuff. There's been a bit of that, but I've spoken a
lot more about things off the court, which is completely different. When my mind isn't free of everything, I can't focus as well as I need to.”
Murray is confirmed the place in the season-end finale and world will probably miss out the Spanish superhuman, Rafael Nadal, because he is still suffering from the knee injury that incurred in the second round of the Wimbledon
Championships in June. So, the task is a bit easier this time around with less competition but the Top-2 players, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, will not ease pressure on him. He has to draft a new strategy to beat the two of the best tennis players at
his home soil in London. If he manages to do that, it will be the biggest season for him that has already yielded the unique gold medal triumph in London Olympics along with the US Open title.
