Andy Murray safely through the second round - Western and Southern Open 2012
World number four, Andy Murray returned to the hard courts of Western and Southern Open championship, having disposed Novak Djokovic in the 2011 finals. If he is lucky, he will bag home his second trophy at the Cincinnati
Masters. He was able to win his initial match against the American Sam Querrey by 6-2, 6-4, merely in 75-minutes on Tuesday afternoon to take off his title defence.
The Scot is hopeful that he will contest for his ninth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown this season. He made a quick recovery after his knee injury at the hard courts of Toronto. He is very confident to secure his win after
this excellent run of form after his gold medal in the London Olympics.
In a post match interview, Murray said, “It felt fine, I moved well today. It still was giving me a little bit of trouble in practice for a couple of days before the tournament, but it felt fine, much better on the court
today. He's had some good wins, so I was expecting a tough match. I think that helped me. Was very sharp right at the beginning of the match. I needed to be, and it was a good start to the tournament. I'm hoping it helps me not only this week but going into
the US Open and big matches in the future.”
The US professional, Querrey started his current year with an impressive start and eventually secured an ATP championship title in Los Angeles. However, the British number one gave the reigning world number one, Roger Federer
a straight sets upset in the London Olympics. Querrey proved no match for the class of Murray and could barely win six games in the entire matchup to finish on the losing side in the end.

Since the start of the match, Murray dominated the game and managed to break serve twice in a row. However, Querrey dominated the first serve by 66 percent and higher number of aces, nine as compared to his opponent’s seven.
He majorly lagged behind when he double faulted twice against Murray at the critical points in the set, which ultimately caused his disposal.
In the second half of the match, the Scot progressively continued his pace and nudged a 6-4 score to claim victory in style. As an aftermath of the Brit’s big win this year, he is very confident. He is hopeful that the Cincinnati
Masters gives him great confidence while entering the US Open this year. He will be competing against the Jeremy Chardy in the third round of the tournament.
