Andy Murray soon to be the fashion icon for the clothing line of Robbie Williams – Tennis News
World number three, Andy Murray, clinched the maiden Grand Slam title on the eve of Monday after thumping the former world number one, Novak Djokovic, in the final of the US Open Championship at the hard courts of the Arthur Ashe
Stadium in New York. It was a terrific victory for the number one Briton who became the first player to win the Major title from his country since 1936. It was a tremendous achievement and the performance has definitely caught eye of few of the marketers that
are looking for a sports celebrity of the year to promote their products and Murray definitely lies in that category of top athletes of the season.
Robbie Williams was the first one to step and offer a contract to the Scot. He is a pop star of Great Britain but also runs a clothing line that needs new faces for promotion and who can be better than the man who recently made
his country proud. Williams wants the Briton to be the face of his menswear especially the brand Ferrell. He is looking to offer the agreement in the coming days but broke news earlier to create a hullaballoo about it and seek further reach.
Williams commented, “Andy Murray would be a fantastic Farrell man. I would love Andy to wear Farrell clothes. My own first inspiration for a style icon was Sean Connery in James Bond. Nobody else came close. But if I can't get
Andy then I'd go for Daniel Craig.”
He further added, “If I could stop smoking, lose two stone and ban chocolate from my diet. I'll pose in them if I can keep my feet out of the pantry; maybe this time next year. I'm nearly 40. It's now or never. When I gave up the
f**s (cigarettes), I put on nearly two stone. I got in the gym and decided to go for it.”
It is a great opportunity for the Scot to reap fruitful returns of the massive achievement. He has not only won the US Open title in the recent past but also registered an upset against the reigning world number one, Roger Federer,
in the final of the London Olympics to grab the gold medal. So, two back-to-back gigantic accomplishments has definitely earned him the best tennis player of the season award and shut the critics that labelled him as the man who lived under the shadow of the
top three world number ones of the modern era.
