Yes and no. It’s the second time Murray has lost his opening match at Monte-Carlo, but the first time he did so (against 154th ranked Jean-Rene Lisnard in 2006) the loss came in the first round. As one of the top eight seeds this year, Murray had a first round by, so although he lost his opening match, it was in the second round.
