Andy O'Brien toying over Bolton Wanderers future
Andy O'Brien has admitted that he is toying with his future at Bolton Wanderers and says a permanent move to his current loan club, Leeds United, would not be out of the question.
O'Brien joined Simon Grayson's Leeds United team when it became clear that he was not going to get any games in the Bolton first team. At 31, the defender admited it may be nearing the time to move on.
"I've had a frustrating time at Bolton but I'm really grateful for the opportunity here, first and foremost to Leeds but also to Bolton for letting me come.
I suppose to a certain extent I'm in control of my own destiny in the sense that in six or seven months' time I'll be available on a free transfer," said the defender.
O'Brien is far too good a player to be at a Championship club. However, he seems happy to have gone to Leeds and he has a lot of quality and experience that will keep him
in the first team.
A content move
O'Brien seems very content with his move to Leeds and there are many positives for him in signing a permanent deal at the club. Leeds is not a small city or football club
and the whole area has ambition to get back into the Premier League.
O'Brien is one of the most experienced defenders in the football club, which means Grayson will be more willing to turn to him in times of need. He's played 74 times for
Bolton, which will give him a very good idea of how the top strikers operate.
O'Brien has gone to a club where he has instantly become a very valued player. He will enjoy this feeling and latch onto it as opposed to being at Bolton where he has one
fairly good defender among many. This means he should raise his performance level for Leeds in every single game.
"It's the first time in my career and also the first time I've ever been out
on loan, but of all the clubs to come to, it's a massive honour to be at Leeds," he added.
