Andy Pettitte gives no definite answer regarding the future
There isn’t any update on the Andy Pettitte situation, so far. The New York Yankees were moving in for Cliff Lee this winter. Unfortunately, that move never brought the ace pitcher to the Bronx Stadium. Now with 4-star pitchers in the side, the Yanks will
be looking to add power from the minor league. That’s an assumption one has to make given the possibility of Pettitte retiring soon.
The 38-year-old Yankees’ faithful has been living in Texas with his family and though there is a possibility of going back to the Major Leagues, that option doesn’t seem to be picking heat from the A-grade player. The hard pitcher is not going to make a
hasty decision. There’s almost a one-month waiting period left till the spring training period starts. For the fans and supporters, the prospect of Andy’s return rests with his ability to see what the best move is for him in the future.
The ace pitcher recently talked to the New York Post on his future ventures and much to their surprise, the veteran couldn’t give a definitive answer. The maestro has told the Yankees to move on and organize the roster without him. General Manager, Brian
Cashman iterated Pettitte’s stance recently.
"I could just tell you that he has been very good about it," Brian Cashman said. "He has informed us about, 'Don't wait on me, I'm leaning toward retirement. As of right now I'm not playing, and if I change my mind, I'll let you know.'"
Pettitte was in a similar situation last year, but the circumstances seem different these days. The pitcher is looking at spending more time with the family. The need for a connection with the kids seems to be his intent. Though that is a simple intent,
Andy doesn’t have to take baseball off the hook. A decision to return could come up any second and if it does, he will be joining an able rotation.
When asked about his recent activity, Pettitte talked about it. He got a complement on his physique as well. The Reporter from the Post passed a remark on him that he looked ready to pitch.
"I haven't done much," Andy Pettitte said. "That's for sure. I was over in Hawaii, so I'm tan. My daughter keeps telling me I'm getting more gray hair every day, so I don't know about that."
