Andy Reid would be happy to stay at Sheffield United
Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid has admitted he would be happy to extend his loan deal with Championship club Sheffield United.
Under Reid's current deal, his final game would be the Championship match against Crystal Palace this weekend. However, as he seems surplus to requirements at Sunderland at the moment, he has admitted
he'd be happy to stay.
"Life's good at Sheffield.
Everyone's been good to me, the manager, the players, fans, everybody. So it's enjoyable.
I want to get games in and see how it goes from there," said Reid on the Sky Sports website.
Sheffield United manager Gary Speed has been very keen to use Reid out on the left wing since he arrived at the club. He produced a brilliant performance last weekend and
managed to bag the winner against Millwall.
Reid says he's fairly confident that an extension to the loan will be sorted out by the officials of both clubs. His main focus seems to be football and maintaining his
good performance and fitness levels.
"I'm just going to get on with playing football
and let people who deal with that side of things sort that out.
Just get on the pitch and play. That's all I want to do," he added.
There will be a lingering temptation for Sunderland to call their player back because he has been playing so well. However, there is no guarantee that Reid will stroll
into the Sunderland team in the same way he is at Sheffield United.
For this reason the most likely outcome will probably be an extended loan deal until January. This would keep the player happy and would allow Sunderland to assess whether
the club could afford to offload Reid permanently in the January transfer window.
Betting advice
Back Reid to score in any Championship game he plays in. He seems far too good to be playing Championship football and he is going to get starts while he is a Sheffield
United player. Be a little more wary of betting on him if he goes back to Sunderland.
