Andy Rihs is positive that Cadel Evans will seal the Tour de France 2012 victory
Owner of Team BMC bike company, Andy Rihs, is certain that Cadel Evans will repeat his 2011 performance in the coming edition of the Tour de France.
Evans joined the American based team in 2010 and is ready to continue his third consecutive season with the squad.
He also represented five other professional teams during his career, Volvo-Cannondale, Saeco Macchine per Caffe, Mapei-Quick Step, Team Telekom and Davitamon-Lotto team.
There is almost a hundred kilometres of time trialling at the Tour de France 2012. Rihs believes that, with specialist riders like Thor Hushovd and Philippe Gilbert on their side, Evans has strong chances to make it through to the top podium position.
He briefed, "For Hushovd I know he dreams of winning Roubaix and Gilbert the Ardennes once more, but you also have to remember that Cadel is not chasing the jersey from day one”.
Andy continued, “If somebody else has it or wants to win a stage within our team, that’s fine, but the team knows that the bigger goal is the overall Tour, and everyone is happy with that”.
Team BMC is without a doubt, one of the strongest teams for the season ahead and the whole squad is united to support Evans at the French Grand Tour.
The top two cyclists at the UCI World Tour Ranking as of October 2011 were Philippe Gilbert and Cadel Evans, both of Team BMC.
Philippe dominated the classics with 698 points, whereas Cadel claimed the stage races with 574 points to his credit.
The Australian participated in a total number of 12 Grand Tours so far with two Giros, seven Tours and three Vuelta appearances under his belt.
His previous best performances include the second position at the Tour de France 2007 and 2008.
Luxembourg cyclist, Andy Schleck, finished second at the Tour this year which was his third consecutive second place finish on the French soil.
He is also a strong contender for the coming edition of the race, considering the strong RadioShack-Nissan squad that will be escorting him at the event.
Cadel’s biggest concern, however, is the three-time winner of the Tour de France, Alberto Contador, whose participation is still doubtful.
The Spaniard is currently facing doping allegations and his decision is expected by the end of January.
