Andy Roberts urges WICB to sack Darren Sammy and Otis Gibson: Cricket News
Former legendary fast bowler Andy Roberts has asked the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to sack Darren Sammy as the captain of the Caribbean team and Otis Gibson as coach.
He feels that the duo has failed to put http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 on the winning track and their performance is far below par.
There is also a big question mark over Sammy's place in the side as he has failed to make any kind of an impression. However, a captain should be one of the best players of the team.
After a poor performance at the ICC World Cup 2011, Gibson said that he wanted to drop all the experienced players of the team in order to begin a rebuilding phase of West Indies Cricket team.
Keeping that in view, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shivnarine-Chanderpaul-c90073, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Chris Gayle were dropped for the T20 and first three One Day Internationals against Pakistan.
Former Windies player stated, “The results speaks for themselves and I see nobody developing. I don’t know what is happening, I am not following the cricket as I should because it ...me off. It ... me off every time I have to watch West Indies play.”
However, Roberts was in favour of including Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan in the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. However, he wanted Shivnarine Chanderpaul out from the national team.
He also did not appreciate the manner in which the players were treated by WICB.
He also said that the WICB should have called all the players in and took them into confidence about their position in the team.
Roberts expressed his disappointment over the poor performance of the Windies in the first three limited-over matches. He added that the WICB had to recall Sarwan to win the fourth ODI.
Roberts said, “We are not playing enough organised cricket. The cricket should be organised by somebody who knows what they are doing.”
The former West Indian pacer felt that Sammy needs to be removed as a skipper of the national side since he was a hindrance in the team's progression. He said that the captain did not have a place in the team and should be removed as no progress can be seen
in the team’s performance, under his leadership.
