Andy Roddick bags his 32nd title at the same venue where he opened up his account- Tennis News
Former world number one, Andy Roddick, outplayed the 56th ranked Luxembourg professional, Gilles Muller, in an gruelling three-setter,  settling the final scores at 1-6, 7-6(2), 6-2, in the final showdown of Atlanta Tennis Championships on the eve of Sunday.
The former US champion secured his 32nd championship at the same place where the legend won his maiden title. Roddick has made the same history after 11years, refreshing the memories of his first tournament in the Atlanta Athletic Club’s clay courts. He is a proud claimer of the US open and aims to score many titles in the future.
In a post match interview, the 29-year-old stated, "I've won 32 times now and I never assume I'm going to win again. I try to go about the process of playing and I work hard and try to put myself into position to create success for myself."
Roddick believes that he could not deliver the best of his service during the match because of his problematic shoulder. His performance during the match picked momentum when he got cautious after his initial set loss in the contest.  56th ranked Muller’s pace crashed down due to the scorching heat and low morale. Muller conceded four double-faults in the two games and submitted the match in Roddick’s favour.
Andy said:"It's probably good for me that it got away so fast,..I could let it go."
Assessing the two players head counts, the right-hander beats the Luxembourg by 4 to 1. In 2005 Muller won the three-setter with a minimal margin of 7-6(4), 7-6(8), 7-6(1) at the US Open Champoinships. However, the American registered his four straight wins in the subsequent years to come, including the 32nd title of his career at the Hard courts of Atlantic.
"I've worked hard," he stated in a press conference "I don't know if I can pull of the shots that a Roger (Federer) or Rafa (Nadal) can pull off but I feel like I've done pretty well with what I was given. I sleep pretty well knowing that I haven't cheated myself."
Andy’s performance at the start of 2012 was average. He was only able to cross the first round for majority of the matches. He picked up the title at AEGON International - Eastbourne with against the Italian Fabio Fognini by leading the match with a straight set of 6-3, 6-2.
The current world number 22 also competed in the Wimbledon championship, losing at the hands of seven-seeded David Ferrer. Roddick has an excellent opportunity to secure a good ranking at the London Olympics and giving this year’s tennis a classic ending.
