Andy Roddick buffs up for the forth coming London Olympics – Tennis News
Former world number one, Andy Roddick, swiftly turns all his focus towards the upcoming London Olympics, starting 28th of July at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, at Wimbledon.
The American superstar has been terrific with his fiery serves and accurate shot selection in the recent past that has earned him two out of last three tournament titles that includes a success story of AEGON International at Eastbourne
and some blistering display at the Atlanta Tennis Championships.
He looked in great touch at the Wimbledon Championships as well but was served sweetly in a tough draw against the Spanish number two, David Ferrer, who reigned supreme over him in four sets. However, the three-setter rule of Olympics
has definitely boosted the chances of the 22nd ranked American who will turn 30-year-old on the second last day of August.
Commenting about the preparation for the London Games, the American stated, “As far as tennis preparation goes, it's the Olympics but I think you have to go about it as a regular tournament. You know the players, you know the venue
and you know the format. It's just that you're playing for something different. You're playing for your country."
Roddick further added, “I wanted to feel good on the tennis court again. So now I'm excited about carrying that momentum to see if we can make something happen." Just before the start of the Atlanta Open, Roddick was reported to
have said “If I play well in Atlanta, that's only going to give me the momentum I need going into the Olympics."
Now that he has bagged his 32nd title of the career at Atlanta, he is fuming in with confidence and prepares to fire an onslaught against his rivals and probably surprise everyone by reviving the good old days of his
prolific tennis that were just lost somewhere in the midst of 2004.
In his supreme run of form in the recent past, Roddick has outclassed the players like Andreas Seppi, Nicolas Mahut and John Isner. He has suddenly gained more momentum than the number one American, Isner, at the moment and American
people rest more hope in him than the 6’9 tall giant Isner who is ranked superior than him.
