Andy Roddick racks up his 600th win of the career at Eastbourne – Tennis News
American former world number one, Andy Roddick, has accomplished yet another milestone in his prolific tennis career. He compiled his 600th win on the eve of Friday by ousting the Belgian contestant, Steve Darcis. It
was a premature win for the American as his opponent retired at the scores of 3-6, 1-3. The American professional was extremely delighted to achieve such a legendary landmark in his career.
It was not easy for the 33rd ranked superstar who had to complete his quarter-final match and contest his semi-final battle on the same day due to weather disturbances. It was extremely hard for the American tennis icon
because he had already contested a marathon match against the Italian professional, Fabio Fognini. It was a three-setter ending 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in favour of Roddick.
Roddick commented, “There's a lot of a time when you make plans where you draw the perfect scenario and you draw up a script and it doesn't work out. That's probably 90 per cent of the time in sports. This week has worked out.
Regardless of what happens, I'll go into Wimbledon with some wins behind me and some confidence on a surface I'm very comfortable on. So, I feel like I got my game back a little bit in this week.”
He is already in the final of the AEGON International at Eastbourne. The year’s third Grand Slam Championship starts from Monday and the American tennis star is back in form; that makes the tournament a whole lot interesting. He
is drawn against the British qualifier, Jamie Baker, in the opening round clash. He will have to fight the player as well as the crowd support. However, he has a lot of experience that will definitely help him lift up the game against the youngster. The 29-year-old
American is still loved by tennis fanatics and his ability to sustain a respectable ranking throughout a career is marvellous; just incredible.
Roddick is a living sensation. He is a great player and a magnificent human being; always finds a humoristic way to please the crowd. His imitations of several top players like Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are
still watched across the globe. He might not have the same power left in his serves but he definitely has the same courage to land at the courts of Wimbledon; grab the Championship title after failing to win any of the three final appearances in Wimbledon.
