Andy Roddick reveals he likes Milos Raonic’s game – Tennis News
Former world number one, USA’s Andy Roddick, has said that he likes the game of Milos Raonic and believes that the Canadian is still unsatisfied with his performance and wants to achieve more, which is a good thing.
Roddick and Raonic faced each other in an exhibition match in Toronto. The American bounced back after losing the opener to beat the rising star in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Raonic did not take Roddick and the match easy, playing like they were featuring in a high level ATP event. The reason behind that could be the Canadian’s loss at the hands of the American legend in 2011. Roddick defeated the then
teenager in the final of Regions Morgan Keegan Classic Championships in Memphis last year.
The Canadian failed to take revenge from the 2003 US Open champion but succeeded in earning praise from USA’s best player of the last decade.
Roddick said while talking to media people during the post match press conference, “I like his game ... and it seems like he has that hunger to get better and not just be satisfied, so that will serve him well.”
Raonic started last season with a low ranking of 156 but ended with a 25th position in the world. The Canadian player began by advancing to the fourth round of the Australian Open and clinched the SAP Open title in San
Jose. Then the runners-up performance in Memphis further raised his ranking.
Praising Raonic, Roddick went on to say, “I’m not around Milos that much (but) I know what I see in the locker room, and he goes about his business very well, taking care of what he needs to take care of in the training room. He
seems very focused and that’s something that some of our young players have lacked in the last five years or so. It’s nice to see someone that young go about things in a professional way.”
Raonic captured the Aircel Chennai Open title at the start of this season and then defended his SAP Open crown. The Canadian currently has a ranking of number 13 in the world.
