Andy Roddick says he is enjoying life after retiring from tennis – Tennis News
Former world number one, Andy Roddick, has acknowledged that he is enjoying his retirement life, as he can do whatever he wants.
The 2003 US Open champion retired from professional tennis after losing to Argentinean player, Juan Martin Del Potro, in the fourth round of this year’s US Open. The American, who had turned pro in 2000, played on the ATP Tour for 13 consecutive years.
Everyone who follows international tennis would know how hectic is the schedule of professional players. They have to travel around the world throughout the year. Even when they are not playing any tournament, they have to spend hours working out in order
to maintain physical fitness.
That is the reason that most of the top tennis players enjoy their life after retirement. If a player managed to get good results during his career, he would have enough money to relax in his 30s. How lucky is the person who does not have much to worry about
his income at this early age.
The American star, who is married to model and actress, Brooklyn Decker, is doing the same. The 30-year-old has found a new hobby in watching football on Red Zone channel. Other than that, he is spending time with his family, hanging out with his friends,
playing golf for a good number of hours, looking after his charity foundation and much more.
In an exclusive interview to ESPN, Roddick shared what he did during a day out with his friends. He said, “What's filling my life? All the things that should be filling your life. Time with friends and family. It's funny I get asked the question and every
day I wake up, I feel like I have a full day. Last week my friends and I did a 5K, then we did a boot camp, had brunch and a couple of Bloody Marys, then after that we went and did laser tag for three hours. It was like 12 of us and then at night we went to
dinner and a movie. We literally started at 8:30 in the morning and we were done at 10:45 at night and it was awesome.”
Roddick took part in the Miami Tennis Cup last month, as he had committed for the event before his retirement.
