Andy Roddick suffers crushing defeat at US Open, Janko Tipsarevic keeps cool
The American ace tennis star, Andy Roddick, is no doubt struggling hard to make his way to the top of tennis rankings again. The American veteran got frustrated and failed to clutch victory in the second round of the ongoing US Open.
The current World number 9, Andy Roddick lost his battle against his Serbian opponent, Janko Tipsarevic. Roddick, who has already won this tournament once before, seemed a little out of touch and was finding it very difficult to settle down in the harsh and hot conditions of New York. Despite the fact Roddick failed to grasp victory in the match, the battle between the Serb and the American came out to be one of the toughest and most brilliant fights of this year’s tournament. It was a four set match as both the rivals tried their level best to show their best class. The tough conditions and challenge made the match even more exothermic and frustrating for the players.
The match became very interesting when Andy Roddick got angry with the line judge after he was given a foot fault. The incident was clear proof of Roddick’s sheer frustration during the match. On the other hand, Tipsarevic kept his cool and made his rival suffer, 3-6 7-5 6-3 7-6 (7-4). It is also to be remembered that despite of losing the match Andy Roddick showed a great deal of confidence and relaxation about his performance. Roddick played very well throughout the match but it seemed that it wasn’t his day.
After winning the first set in a very blunt and convincing way the twenty-eight year old failed to keep his winning streak alive. The American lost his control over the points table and failed to answer the powerful smashing attacks of Tipsarevic. Later after the match, Roddick admitted that the situation made him very confused and he was not happy with the judgement of the line judge during the match. He looked upset about the decision and told the media that he has never made that kind of mistake in his career. Roddick was of the view that his left foot was not surpassing his right foot and he is still unable to understand the logic of the fault called by the line judge. While talking about the match and his performance Roddick told the media in the conference that he is very happy with the way he has performed but the conditions and happenings in the match worked against him.
On the other hand, the winner, Janko Tipsarevic was much relaxed and happy with his performance. While talking to the media he expressed his views in a pretty relaxed way and said that he is feeling great about the match. Tipsarevic added that he is very satisfied with the way he has performed and will work hard to keep the winning form alive. While talking about the match Tipsarevic said that every victory is good and this match has given him a confidence boost as Andy Roddick is not an easy player to defeat.
In the other matches of the tournament Nicolas Almagro of Spain hammered the opponent from Italy Potito Starace. On the other hand the talented Sam Querrey beat Bradley Klahn after an interesting four setter match by 6-3 4-6 7-5 6-4.
