Andy Roddick to play 2012 Delray Beach event – Tennis News
Andy Roddick, the world number 15th player will make his way into the Delray Beach ITC ATP World Tour event. The twentieth edition of the tour is scheduled to take place in February 2012. 
Over the past ten years at the ATP World Tour, the 29-year old Roddick has been a successful player from America. He has won thirty ATP titles along with thirty-three US Davis Cup singles matches. His last ATP title win came at
the 2011 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships when he defeated Milos Raonic (Canada) in the finals.
At the 2012 event, Roddick will be playing along Mardy Fish, the 2009 ITC singles champion and John Isner, who played the longest match in Wimbledon history with Nicolas Mahut (France) at the 2009 event.
Roddick played the men’s doubles final at the International Tennis Championships when he teamed with compatriot Jan-Muchael Gambill. They won the final against Thomas Shimada (Japan) and Myles Wakefield (South Africa). 
As a single’s competitor, Roddick played his first International Tennis Championships finals in 2002 against Davide Sanguinetti but could not win the title.
In total, Roddick has played four Delray Beach ITC ATP World Tour events. His last visit to the event in was in 2003. This event holds a very special place in Roddick’s heart for he played his first professional match at the same
event in 2000.  Roddick, who won his first title at the 2001 Verizon Tennis Challenge in Atlanta, has never won the Delray Beach ITC ATP World Tour event.
Roddick entered the 2000 ATP event as a wild card. At that time, no one had heard about any tennis player by the name of Roddick. That ATP entry gave Roddick the opportunity to step into the professional world and prove his worth
as a worthy player.
He was then the youngest ever American to have finished in the top ten spot. While talking about the upcoming event, Roddick said "I am excited to return to Delray Beach.  I received my first wild card as a professional tennis
player in Delray so the tournament certainly has a special significance in my career... I have a lot of great memories playing so close to where I grew up. You can truly feel the local support of the fans and the city for the tournament."
The 2011 ITC event, scheduled in February will be a star-studded event with James Blake also announcing his participation. Mark Baron, the director of the Delray Beach ITC event is pleased to have Roddick in the tournament.  Bron
said, "Our 2012 field is off to a flying start with Andy and Ivan on board"
Roddick, who has won the 2003 Rogers Cup, 2003 and 2006 Cincinnati Open and the 2004 and 2010 Miami Masters, would like to add the Delray Beach ITC ATP World Tour title under his belt for the event is very close to his heart.
