Andy Roddick’s agent, Ken Meyerson dies at the age of 47 – Tennis News
47-year-old Miami based agent for Andy Roddick, Ken Meyerson, dies on Wednesday October 19th; apparently he was struck with a heart-attack while he was asleep in his bed. This is such disappointing news for the whole
tennis world. Everyone was struck with grief and sorrow on this heartbreaking incident.
The final tweet from Meyerson came on September 20th and it was “I love my family, my wife, my daughter, my mother and father, and my staff in Miami for their unwavering and unconditional support for me”.
He was an agent for former world no.1, Andy Roddick, Justine Henin, Fernando Gonzalez, Gael Monfils, and the Radwanska sisters. He was present at all fixtures that were contested by Roddick and was seated in the Roddick’s box at
all tournaments.
Canadian born, Meyerson played tennis at his teen-age in Miami. He was the regular player of Miami Beach High club and stayed there for quite a long time; represented the University of Portland (Ore.) but then couldn’t make a name
as a regular tennis professional. He didn’t lost heart and found an alternative way to be connected to the world of tennis and flew to Paris where he became an agent of tennis players.
Former World No.1 and American tennis ace, Andy Roddick, was affiliated with Meyerson for past 11 years and they were not only professional partners but were really good friends as well. Extremely sad and disappointed at this incident,
Roddick updated his twitter status praising his agent and said that he loved him a lot; he can never forget the times Meyerson had been helpful to him and thanked Meyerson for all his efforts and proclaimed him as his forever brother.
Great personality and friendly character defined Meyerson and even the critics praised him for his work. One of his competitors and former World No.1, Roger Federer’s agent, Tony Godsick said “I feel gutted and heartbroken. Ken
was a part of the fabric of this sport. He had his own way of doing things, and a larger-than-life personality that will be missed by the whole sport of tennis”.
Maria Sharapova’s agent, Vice President of IMG Tennis told TENNIS.com, said he is shocked and can’t believe that Meyerson is no more and he can’t imagine signing a player and not compete against him; he will miss a guy who always
made everyone smile.
He was the president of tennis division of an International talent management company, Lagardere Unlimited that had its offices in New York and Miami. He was very lively with his approach and always brought smile on people faces.
He will be a great loss to tennis around the world and specially those who were officially affiliated with him.
