Andy Schleck finds form at the Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de la Loire
Andy Schleck is one of a biggest names for the 2012 season. The cyclist, however, has not clicked in the season yet. He has already withdrawn from the Volta a Catalunya and the Paris-Nice because of health issues.
It appears as if the Luxembourg professional cyclist has finally found his form at the Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de la Loire.
He claimed the 22nd overall spot after the final general classifications, with a deficit of 30 seconds on the race leader Luke Durbridge of Team GreenEdge.
Dekker finished the four-staged race in a quickest time of 3 hours, 41 minutes and 29 seconds to seal the deal at the Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de la Loire.
Schleck briefed that his decision to ride the Circuit de la Sarthe-Pays de la Loire instead of Volta al Pais has really paid off.
He explained that the weather conditions were ideal and also appreciated the efforts made by the race organisers.
Andy mentioned, "The bunch wasn't too big (104 starters) but it was still a fast race. Not many races are contested at such a high speed as what we experienced today, and yesterday's course was very selective".
"Yesterday, it was a real test for me and I was happy with how my legs responded," he concluded.
The 26-year-old has not registered any wins in the season yet and is optimistic to find his winning ways at the season ahead.
Andy briefed that he is still not too sure about riding the Amstel Gold Race, but the race he is more interested to ride is the Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
“I knew that Armstrong, Basso and Ullrich have also used La Sarthe for their building in the past but there's not just one way to come into shape, and every year is different,” he cited. “Whether I can win Liège-Bastogne-Liège also depends on how the other riders go”.
Schleck finished third during the Tour de France 2011 for the third consecutive time.
He is now targeting the 2012 version of the French Grand Tour as the biggest goal of his new season.
Only time will tell if Andy can find his 2011 winning momentum to find podium during the coming races.
