Andy Schleck had a go at his Team Manager, Johan Bruyneel
Andy Schleck spoke his frustration out towards his Team Manager Johan Bruyneel as reported by the Belgian news paper Het Nieuwsblad.
Bruyneel criticised his elder brother, Frank for abandoning the Giro d’Italia after the stage 15 crash.
“As far as I’m concerned, his physical condition is good,” Bruyneel told Cyclingnews.
“There is an injury. It will probably be a problem sometimes to stay with the best guys but it’s definitely not an injury to consider an abandon,” he concluded.
Frank was looking good for an overall victory at the first Grand Tour race of the season and his exit from the race was a definite blow on Team RadioShack-Nissan’s winning quest.
The Luxembourg based team has struggled during the 2012 season despite being one of the most expensive teams in the peloton.
Fabian Cancellara helped the team with a first place finish at the Strade Bianche and also succeeded during the stage 7 of the Tirreno-Adriatico.
Jakob Fuglsang occupied the first overall spot after the Tour de Luxembourg and helped the team with a much needed victory.
While commenting on Bruyneel’s comments about Frank, Andy Schleck cited, "Personally, if I was a manager I wouldn't try to solve problems with my riders through the press".
"I would discuss them internally. Maybe Bruyneel was being rushed by the team sponsors, who might be getting impatient," he concluded.
Andy Schleck is currently seen in action at the Criterium du Dauphine 2012 and the cyclist is struggling to find the right form in the current season.
The 26-year-old finished second during the most recent edition of the French Grand Tour after his splendid performance during the Tour de France 2011.
The Schlecks displayed some tremendous legs at the Tour de France 2011 but could not match the likes of in form Cadel Evans.
The 2012 edition of the Tour de France is scheduled from June 30 to July 22 and cyclists will cover a total distance of 3,496.6 kilometres during the three-week race.
It will be interesting to see, if the Schleck brothers finds the right form to bag an overall victory at the 99th version of the French Grand Tour.
