Andy Zhang makes his record breaking entry at the US Open, the 14-year-old eyes Watson!
The US Open will mark history, as the youngest ever US Open competitor Andy Zhang will replace Paul Casey at the Open. Casey will not be a part of the US Open due to an injury.
The 14-year-old is the youngest ever US Open participant who has marked the history books of golf with his name.
Zhang was born in Beijing and had golf in him since his early childhood. Zhang is now residing in Florida and will replace Paul Casey at the US Open, after the latter suffered an injury, causing him to miss the US Open.
Zhang is also the youngest player in the history of golf to participate in a major tournament. He resides with his mother in San Francisco and is looking forward to the US Open in hopes of making history again.
His dream is to practice and play with Bubba Watson on the field, as according to Zhang, he is the best player in the US Open.
“Bubba is the Masters champ - I can't think of anyone better to play with,” said the 14-year-old.
The US Open will mark the return of Tiger Woods, who is aiming to sustain his brilliant form that he displayed at the Memorial Tournament.
Things have turned out to be feasible for Woods, as his form is stable and firm. His meeting with the golf legend Jack Nicklaus has helped him in finding his true form and removing the bad aspects of his play. “The Golden Bear” predicted a bright future
for Woods.
“I suspect (major title) No. 15 will come for Tiger Woods in about two weeks, if he drives the ball this way, and plays this way, I'm sure it will. And if not, it will surprise me greatly,” said Nicklaus recently, speaking on Woods.
Rory McIlroy is defending his US Open crown after a series of unfortunate games. He has also taken tips from Nicklaus and those guidelines helped him win the St. Jude Classic.
The US Open has indeed become historic as Woods makes his return, McIlroy defends his title and a record breaking entry by Zhang makes it the most interesting tournament in the history of golf.
