Andy and Dave Watson sign new contracts with Birmingham City
First team coach Andy Watson and goalkeeping coach Dave Watson have both signed new contracts with Birmingham city.
The duo have finally sorted out and signed new deals after the future of manager Alex McLeish was secured earlier in the month. Both coaches have been at the club for a number of years experiencing life
in the Championship and the Premier League.
"First and foremost, everything revolves around Alex and once the club came to his agreement on his contract, then
we could move forward together. Myself and Dave were delighted the owners looked at our contracts," said Andy Watson.
This is positive news for the club because two popular coaches have been rewarded for doing a good job with the team. Birmingham now has the chance to move forward and
push for a top ten place in the league.
Positive news
This is positive news because it means Birmingham doesn't have to start the long task of seeking out new coaches. The club has got used to how these individuals work.
Both coaches are clearly very good at what they do. Andy Watson would have been key in convincing McLeish to stay on at the club while Dave Watson is vital to the development
of current number one at the club Ben Foster.
It is encouraging to see a football club showing two coaches some loyalty. Both men played a big part in Birmingham while the club was fighting in the Championship. They
have both managed to maintain high standards in the Premier League.
"I think that was a recognition of the work we are all trying to do
here and what we have done as a group over the past couple of years. We came back up from the Championship and are trying to get established as a Premier League side," added Andy Watson.
Birmingham has enjoyed a good start to the season. The club sits in 13th place and there is no reason at all why the side cannot break the top ten.
