Has an anemometer ever taken a tornado wind speed measurement? Can a doppler take an relatively accurate speed measurement?

  1. According to the first site, anemometers rarely survive tornadoes and/or are rarely in a position to make a measurement.

As for Doppler measurements, I guess that scientists have had enough experience by this time to understand their limits.  I expect that in scientific publications, to acknowledge this, the Doppler-estimated speeds are presented as X +/- an uncertainty.

If you want more info, perhaps you can e-mail the administrators at that first site.
