Anesthesiologist part 2?

I asked a question earlier but......

I was also wondering abotu anesthesilogist how do they know how much medicine to give a patient before an emergency surgery without knowing their height or weight??? and when they do know this how do they figure out how much to give you??? do they do a formula??? and why does your throat hurt so bad when you wake up from surgery???

btw my anesthesiologist was a cutie

  1. We train for years to know how to do that stuff.  Seriously, I can't begin to go into all of the factors that determine what we give or how much we give.  If it was all based on formulas, anybody could do it.  A lot of of comes from experience - doing thousands of cases.

    Your throat hurts from the laryngoscopy and endotracheal tube.
