Not the ones in the mouth but when they give them to you to do minor surgeries on your skin. Have you ever had one? And did it hurt like crazy? Im curious to know how other people respond to them. Its the worst pain ive been in, but of course i havent given birth or broken a bone. Let me know! Thanx!

  1. Breaking bones they dont give you meds. not me anyway

  2. It depends where on the body, the shot is given.  When I got one in my finger, it burned a lot at first, but then went numb.  When I got one on top of my wrist area, it didn't hurt much at all.  Different parts of the body have different concentrations of nerve endings.  Hope you're healed real soon :)

  3. I have had numerous local anesthetics.  The reason they burn is that they are in an acid solution.  The ones that hurt me most were in my nose (for skin cancer) and in my big toe (for an ingrown toenail).  When I use them in pets, I add a little sodium bicarbonate to the local anesthetic to make it more neutral.  It works just as well and doesn't burn nearly as much.  I even used it on myself to evaporate a wart from my finger with a laser, and it didn't hurt much.  I hope that helps.
