Anfi Gem – One of the most consistent greyhounds
Consistency in any form of sport is required for the participant to be considered amongst the best. There can be many performers, who deliver one solid result and then fade away, but their name is never taken alongside the greats of the game.
Similarly, it is essential for a greyhound to be competitive throughout his career in order to earn respect amongst the rivals. The one who manages to do so is definitely remembered as a class act.
Anfi Gem is one of the very few greyhounds, who have been able to perform with consistency. He has fought hard throughout his career and can never be taken lightly at any level.
The veteran greyhound started off his career back in 2010 and appeared in a few training sessions before really going onto take on his rivals in competitive events. Looking at his performances in the trials, it was pretty much clear that he was going to
be a fierce competitor in the future.
He certainly proved to be one, and did not disappoint his team at all, when he was drafted in a Grade OR event straight away. The bookies realised that he was going to be strong, thus gave him the best odds for victory. He was under some pressure, as he
was starting from trap number two and there was a chance for him to get blocked by some of the slower hounds.
However, things did not go that bad for him at the start of the race and he managed to stay close to his main rivals. The overall distance to cover was 480 metres, so he had plenty of time to push hard towards the end.
The C. Redden’s trained hound kept on increasing his speed steadily and took charge towards the middle of the race. Once he got into the lead, no one was able to match him and he took the top spot by a comfortable margin in the end.
This victory gave a lot of confidence to Anfi Gem and he kept on delivering such results with consistency for his team. He always liked running in the longer distance events, as his stamina was very good. He is still going strongly and has probably got one
more season before saying farewell to racing.
