Angel Cabrera, Jhonattan Vegas and 10 more Latin Americans will spice up the Puerto Rico Open field
Angel Cabrera and Jhonattan Vegas are the leading players in the field of the Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com.
This tournament is being staged by the Professional Golf Association and is famous for having a diverse and quality field.
The field features worldwide players, who will be contending for the $3,500,000 purse and $630,000 winning share at the Trump International Golf Club, Puerto Rico Rio Grande, PUR.
Another interesting factor is the presence of 12 Latin American players at the four-day tournament slated to start from March 8, and end on March 11, 2012.
Cabrera from Argentina and Vegas Venezuela are in the leading position of the field. They will be playing along the Brazilian Alexandre Rocha and the Puerto Rico’s players Rafael Campos and Max Alverio.
With all the Latin Americans, the youngest Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa, will also be making the field more appealing and competitive.
He will be displaying his debut performance at the Puerto Rico Open.
He is the most attractive player of the Japan Golf Tour, but has not won any title on the PGA and is passing through a winless career.
His best finish was the 4th position at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational last year.
He continued his tour at PGA and recorded a 13th place finish at the Farmers Insurance Open this year.
His presence will attract more spectators on the course, as he is striving hard for a debut win on the PGA.
Michael Bradley is the defending champion and will be playing to record his third glory at the Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com.
He played well in 2011 and defeated Troy Matteson in a playoff mode.
They both scored 16-under par and 272 strokes in total. Bradley successfully defeated Matteson by an early putt in playoff.
He won the title with a two stroke-lead over the runner-up Stephen Ames from Canada and the American Hunter Haas.
Most of the 2011 leaders and 12 Latin Americans are in the field, making the tournament more appealing.
Competition is tougher and the defender, Bradley, now has to show some more impressive strokes, so he can win again.
There will be another tournament of the World Golf Championship, Cadillac Championship, scheduled on the same dates in Florida.
Hence, the world leaders and leading players will be playing in Florida. Similarly, all the Latin Americans will show their performance in Rio Grande.
