Former IBF and WBA super lightweight champion Amir Khan is an overrated fighter, according to Danny Garcia’s trainer and father Angel Garcia. Both fighters were present along with their camps at the LA press conference, where Angel Garcia made it a point
to bust Khan on his face. In reply, Khan said that Angel Garcia is ‘disrespectful’. Although Angel was making rude comments against Khan, Danny Garcia did not say much.
According to Angel Garcia, “First of all we are having a good camp. Khan is an overrated fighter.” Speaking directly to Khan, Angel said, “When Danny starts hitting you what are you going to do 1-2 and roll out all night? Come on man you’re overrated, July
14 and still undefeated super lightweight champion of the world Danny Garcia.”
On the other hand, Asif Vali, manager of Khan, expressed his disappointment over Angel’s remarks by saying, “We will not disrespect our opponents, we are very disappointed Mr. Garcia.”
Similarly, Amir Khan faced Angel and told him, “When I beat your son, will I still be overrated?”
The press conference was heating up but both the fighters kept things positive. Garcia praised Khan for his capabilities and so did Khan. However, Khan did make it a point to say that he will be Garcia’s toughest opponent ever. According to Khan, Garcia
is definitely tough but he has never faced a fighter like him.
Danny Garcia is the current WBC Light Welterweight Champion and an unbeaten fighter. According to Angel Garcia, Danny will beat Khan and remain unbeaten. However, Khan believes that July 14 will be Garcia’s first defeat. In his previous interview, as always,
Khan sounded confident of beating Garcia. Khan has repeatedly asserted that he will beat Danny Garcia on July 14 and then move up in weight to face bigger fighters like Floyd Mayweather, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.
For now, Khan and Garcia, both are confident of victory and things are heating up now for July 14. Not just for Garcia, even for Khan this is a big fight as he needs to prove his mettle to the naysayers.
