Angel Garcia believes Amir Khan is ‘chinny’ – Boxing News
After throwing a plethora of racism comments towards the now reinstated WBA light welterweight titlist Amir Khan, Angel Garcia now insists Khan is ‘chinny’, meaning he has a weak chin.
“Basically, his chin is weak. When you don’t have a chin in boxing, it’s an issue,” said Angel Garcia when on Khan’s face in their recent press conference.
He added, “We’ve got certain things we’re going to work on Khan. How can you be a warrior when you don’t have a chin?”
Showing confidence over his son’s strength and punching power, Angel said, “If Danny clips him (Khan), I don’t think he will be able to survive that shot.”
“My prediction is if Khan opens up, then Danny will knock him out. If he runs around the ring, he can run, but he can’t hide. Danny will hunt him down.”
Angel Garcia has already been quite disrespectful towards Khan and his trainer Freddie Roach. In his previous interview, he not only targeted Khan for being a Muslim with a Pakistani descent, he even commented on Freddie Roach’s accomplishments.
According to Angel Garcia, Freddie Roach has always trained fighters who were already champions. He insists Roach is not a capable trainer, as the Hall of Famer has not yet trained an amateur to become a champion.
Quoting examples of Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, Angel Garcia stated that Roach jumped in when these fighters were already made up. He even went on saying that Roach’s fighters lock horns with easy opponents unlike his son Danny Garcia.
Angel Garcia has high regards for his own training capacity and his son’s accomplishments. He believes Danny Garcia was thrown to hungry lions from day one and no promoter saved his son from it. Yet, he believes, Danny Garcia defeated every iconic fighter
in the division to reach the level he is at right now.
Khan will be defending his WBA light welterweight title against Danny Garcia, who will be defending his WBC light welterweight title, on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. In addition, the Ring Magazine title will be on the line too.
