Angel Martinez, Lucas Martin Matthysse to collide for WBC Latino light welterweight title
Lucas Martin Matthysse, world number twelve light welterweight, will take on the surging 20-year-old Angel Martinez in a one-on-one bout scheduled for 12 rounds for the vacant WBC Latino light welterweight title.
On Friday February 10, 2012 both men will take on each other at Gimnasio Municipal arena situated in Trelew, Chubut, Argentina. Lucas hailing from Argentina is far more experienced than the young Angel. Martin has thrown himself in a total 32 brawls and
came out victorious in 29.
Apart from possessing a huge resume the 29-year-old Argentinean intimidates his opponents by his impressive knock out ratio as well. Lucas has collected 27 of his wins by knockout and secures a ratio of 84.38%. These two facets that is experience and knock
out ability when combined together make Lucas a lethal opponent for even opponents who have a decent experience.
Angel on the other hand, infamous as the Arcangel, hails from Mexico and is getting a golden ticket to tell the world that he also exists in the light middleweight division. This will be the first ever title fight that the young lad has thrown himself into.
Before that, he has been in a total 15 brawls against opponents who are not notable enough most of them being welterweights residing at lower ranks.
Out of the 15 encounters he has come out as a victor in 13 and possesses a knockout ratio of just 60% by collecting KO wins over nine challengers. A bird’s eye view clearly shows that Lucas will convert Angel into a punching bag used for sparring since Martinez
is a well experienced man who has fought even in United States and has won WBO Inter-Continental light welterweight title from DeMarcus Corley.
It must be kept in mind that Lucas is a former five-time WBO Latino light welterweight title winner and he collected this gold by nailing Rogelio Castaneda Junior, Florencio Castellano, Ariel Francisco Burgos, Diego Jesus Ponce, and Victor Daniel Rios. Angel
has never been in a 12-round bout in addition he already faced tough time in his last two bouts against Ricardo Dominguez and Geronimo Hernandez.
Against Ricardo he lost by getting knocked out in just the third round and while taking on Geronimo he was hardly able to collect a draw in the eight-round skirmish. The fight might either be a golden chance for Lucas to add another accolade in his resume
and a strenuous test for Angel Martinez.
