Angel McCoughtry, Lindsey Harding, Maya Moore: WNBA Power Rankings from September 4 games – Part 1
Four games took place in Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) on Sunday, September 4, 2011. Here is an overview of some of the noticeable performances on the night:
Atlanta Dream vs. Tulsa Shock
Angel McCoughtry
Angel McCoughtry scored a game-high 19 points in Atlanta Dream’s 73-52 victory over the visiting Tulsa Shock at Philips Arena. McCoughtry scored 10 of her points in the second quarter as Atlanta fended off a comeback attempt by
Tulsa and clinched the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The 24-year-old forward also grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists, blocked three shots and stole the ball twice in the victory. She ended the game on 7 for 15 shooting from the field, including two shots from downtown.
Lindsey Harding
Lindsey Harding recorded a double-double in Atlanta’s second consecutive victory. The 5 ft 8 in guard tallied 13 points and dished out 10 assists. She also had four rebounds and two steals and went 5 for 10 from the field in more
than 35 minutes.
Armintie Price
Armintie Price also scored 13 points for the Eastern Conference defending champions. The Myrtle High School’s product grabbed six rebounds, dished out four assists and stole the ball three times. She finished the night with 6
for 13 from the field.
Tiffany Jackson
Tiffany Jackson headed the slumping Shock with 15 points - 11 rebounds double-double. Tulsa’s forward also had two steals and two assists in the loss and was 6 for 15 from the floor in more than 38 minutes.
Amber Holt
Amber Holt added 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the third straight loss for Tulsa.
Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty
Maya Moore
Maya Moore racked up 19 points and pulled down six rebounds in Minnesota Lynx’s 86-68 win over New York Liberty at Prudential Center. The 22-year-old rookie forward went 7 for 13 from the field, pinning 3 of 6 three-pointers on
the way.
Seimone Augustus
Seimone Augustus posted 12 points in Lynx’s victory that snapped their three-game home losing streak. The three-time WNBA All-Star also dished out three assists and ended the game on 4 for 9 shooting from the floor, including 2
of 2 from the three-point range.
Amber Harris
Amber Harris also came off the bench with 12 points in the win. The player blocked three shots and closed the game on 6 for 8 shooting from the field.
Plenette Pierson
New York’s centre Plenette Pierson scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss. Pierson was 7 for 17 in more than 28 minutes of action.
