Atlanta Dream vs. Connecticut Sun
Angel McCoughtry
Angel McCoughtry punctuated a game-high 35 points in Atlanta Dream’s 85-74 victory over Connecticut Sun. The 6 ft 1 in forward scored 20 of her points in the second half of the game. She also grabbed five rebounds, dealt out four
assists and blocked three shots on the night.
McCoughtry, who is averaging 21.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in this season, shot 12 for 23 from the field and 10 for 13 from free throw line.
Atlanta coach Marynell Meadors praised the overall performance of McCoughtry and said, “She was superb,” “When the stakes are high, she is at her best. She has played well against Connecticut. She has shot the ball very well every
time we have played them. She is just really a great player.”
Sancho Lyttle
Sancho Lyttle recorded a double-double in the victory as Atlanta moved into third place in the Eastern Conference with a 19-14 record. The 27-year-old scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Lyttle also dished out five assists
and stole the ball twice to snap Connecticut’s two-game winning streak. The Dream forward ended the night on a 5 for 11 shooting from the floor.
Tina Charles
Tina Charles recorded her 22nd double-double of this season with 17 points and 12 boards in the loss, matching the WNBA record she herself set last year. The 22-year-old centre went 8 for 19 from the field and also blocked
three shots.
Renee Montgomery
Renee Montgomery chipped in 16 points, shooting 7 for 9 from the field, and dished out seven assists in the loss. Connecticut’s guard stole the ball four times in more than 29 minutes of action and finished the game on a 7 for
9 shooting from the floor.
San Antonio Silver Stars vs. Los Angeles Sparks
Becky Hammon
At Staples Center, Becky Hammon erupted with a season-high 37 points in San Antonio Silver Stars’ 82-65 win over Los Angeles Sparks. Hammon was highly efficient in the second half scoring 26 of her points, including 17 in the fourth
quarter. The veteran guard also dished out five assists, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals in the victory.
 The six-time WNBA All-Star was 14 for 19 on shooting from the floor, including 4 for 7 from three-point range and 5 for 5 from free throw line.
Tina Thompson
Tina Thompson led Los Angeles with 18 points on an 8 for 15 shooting from the field. Los Angeles’ forward grabbed six rebounds, stole the ball three times and dished out three assists in Sparks second consecutive loss.
