Season-high 36 vs. Connecticut Sun
On July 31, 2011 at Mohegan Sun Arena, Angel McCoughtry came off the bench with a season-high 36 points against the Connecticut Sun. The forward scored 19 of her points in the fourth quarter of the game. She was 14 for 27 from
the field and 7 for 9 from free throw line. McCoughtry also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists in the loss. The Dream lost, 99-92, but her performance was mesmerizing.
Game-high 35 vs. Connecticut Sun
The rookie forward chipped in a game-high 35 points, while marking a commendable 85-74 victory over the Connecticut on September 6 at Philips Arena.
“She was superb,'' Atlanta coach Marynell Meadors said of McCoughtry’s terrific performance. “When the stakes are high, she is at her best. She has played well against Connecticut. She has shot the ball very well every time we
have played them. She's just really a great player.”
The 25-year-old pulled down five rebounds, dealt out four assists and blocked three shots in more than 34 minutes of action. Perfection is in her veins, and that prompted McCoughtry to go 12 for 23 from the floor and 10 for 13
from the line.
33 vs. Washington Mystics
At Verizon Center, McCoughtry topped all the scorers with 33 points, including 20 of them in the first half, and Atlanta cruised past the slumping Washington Mystics 86-79 on July 20.
McCoughtry, who was the WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2009, also set season highs with 10 field goals, 11 free throws made and 17 free-throw attempts. The player also contributed three rebounds, three assists and three steals in Atlanta’s
third consecutive victory. She finished the game on 10 for 18 shooting from the field, including 2 for 3 from three-point range, and 11 for 17 from the line.
“I picked my spots where I would probably hit the most shots,” McCoughtry said.
32 vs. Indiana Fever
On the last day of the regular season, McCoughtry was on fire against their Eastern Conference rivals and the conference leader, the Indiana Fever. The forward contributed a game-best 32 points on a 9 for 14 shooting from the field
as Atlanta clinched the No. 3 seed in the conference playoffs with a 93-88 win over the top-seeded Indiana.
McCoughtry, who was selected first overall by Atlanta in the 2009 WNBA Draft, notched 2 of 3 three-pointers and pinned in 25 minutes of action. The player also pulled down five boards and blocked three shots in the third consecutive
victory for the Conference Defending Champions.
