Angel McCoughtry leads Atlanta Dream past Seattle Storm 92-63 – WNBA Recap
On Saturday night at Key Arena, Angel McCoughtry scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds as Atlanta Dream romped to a 92-63 win over Seattle Storm, their third victory in their previous four games. It was Seattle’s second loss
against Atlanta in the last seven days and season’s third by more than 20 points.
The 6 ft 1in forward said after the game, “I felt good before the game. We came out much focused. This was just an all-around team effort. Things like this do not happen all the time.”
Iziane Castro Marques also came off the bench with 17 points on a 7 for 11 shooting from the field.
``We really watched a lot of tape and we've played Seattle a few times since last year, so we know how they like to play,'' Castro Marques said after the game. ``We just worked on getting things done that they don't like to do.''
Lindsey Harding had 12 points, shooting 6 for 8 from the floor, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the victory. Forwards Sancho Lyttle and Armintie Price added 10 points each for Dream, who are now fourth in the Eastern
Conference with an 11-12 record.
Katie Smith led Seattle with 15 points on a 6 for 11 shooting from the floor. Swin Cash added 14 points while Sue Bird had 10 points, three assists and two steals in the loss. Bird, the seven-time WNBA All-Star, was honoured for
her 10 years with Seattle in a pregame ceremony.
Atlanta shot 58.8 percent (40 for 68) from the field and 66.7 percent (10 for 15) from free throw line. Seattle shot just 39.3 percent (24 for 61) from the floor and 84.6 percent (11 for 13) from the line. The Dream committed 12
turnovers while Strom committed 20. Atlanta outscored the Seattle in fast break points 12-6 and points in the paint 42-30.
Lyttle punctuated all of her 10 points in the first half as Atlanta held an eight-point lead, 50-42, at halftime. Dream limited Seattle to just 13 points in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 73-55.
Trailing by 18 points, Storm scored just eight points in the fourth quarter as compared to 19 by the visiting team to culminate a night, they will want to forget quickly.
