Angel Pagan’s four RBIs help New York Mets defeat Detroit Tigers 16-9 – MLB Update
New York Mets’ centre-fielder, Angel Pagan was remarkable as he went 4-for-6 with an average of .263 and scored three runs with four RBIs in the Mets’ 16-9 victory against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, Detroit on June 29.
It was the batters day as both teams put runs on the score-board from first to last inning of the game. The Mets started with a blast as they posted four runs at the top of the first inning and took an initial 4-0 lead. Jose Reyes, Ronny Paulino, Jason Bay
and Pagan each scored one run to move the Mets on scoring track.
Second inning was the only one which went in favour of the pitchers as they did not allow any run during their respective pitches. In the third inning, Bay scored one run for the Mets while Ryan Raburn homered (381 feet) towards left-field to post the first
run for the Tigers and the score-board moved to 5-1 at the end of third inning.
At the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers’ first baseman, Miguel Cabrera struck a solo homer (433 feet) to left-field and reduced his team’s lead 5-2. The Mets continued to raise their lead as their batters blasted three runs in the fifth inning to take an
8-2 lead. Justin Turner, Carlos Beltran and Paulino each contributed three runs for the Mets.
The Tigers’ batters made a strong comeback in the sixth inning and smashed four runs to cut their deficit 8-6. Casper Wells and Magglio Ordonez both scored two runs while Cabrera hit a home-run (454 feet) towards centre-field and Jhonny Peralta homered (392
feet) to left-field.
The score-card advanced to 10-8 in the seventh inning when both the teams added four runs collectively. Beltran and Pagan posted two runs for the Mets while Raburn scored single run and Andy Dirks homered (383 feet) towards right-field to keep the score-cards
moving.
Eighth inning again went full of runs as the Mets scored four runs and the Tigers added only one run. Turner, Paulino, Pagan and Scott Hairston each singled for the Mets. On the other side, Peralta scored the last run for the Tigers when Raburn hit a sacrifice
fly off right-field. The score-card was 14-9 after eighth inning.
During the ninth inning, Paulino and Bay both contributed two runs when Pagan doubled to deep right-centre and the game ended 16-9.
