Question:

Angel fish eating the other ?

one of the angelfish nips at another angelfish. and the one that is being nipped at is just there, not swimming away. it doesn't look as if it is hurt. swims like the others, eats like the others, comes up to the front like the others when i am around. i don't understand. is this something they do ? or is the fish sick, will it eventually die ? just wanted to see if this was normal, or i should separate the one that nips.

i have 3 angel fish, all black, regular tails. their bodies are each about the size of a quarter. it's a 30 gallon tank. they're not staying in there forever, just for now.

the only other fish in there are a two mollies that never bother the angels and the angels never bother the mollies...and two snails. the water is perfect. they have places to hide and plenty of plants. the only thing i am not an expert on is angelfish, other than the basics. just wanted to know if this was normal, like between two that have paired off ?

any help would be nice.

  1. lol...

angel fish killing other fish, that is a sin, get it?  angel, devil   hehe

  2. Its normale because angels are not very peaceful. Put them in an auther tank or look your auther fish dies (Little Joke.. :P)

  3. when I was a kid in the doctors office we went to there were angel fish doing the same thing. My brother used to get asthma shots once a week.I never seen a dead angel fish in that tank and seen the same amount every week.

  4. your mistaken you have 2 angelfish that other one is the devil's fish

  5. maybe they are boys, they shouldn't be eating each other unless they are hungry or fighting. try to put a barrier between them  and get another molly to give the lone angel fish company (the 2 mollys should stay with the one that was eating the other angel fish since it is used to those two. if the angel fish starts attacking the mollys that is the one that needs to be separate.

  6. itss normal

  7. You probably shouldn't mix Angel Fish, they tend to eat their same species. Same with Gold Fish. There are many sights that will tell you what fish you can and shouldn't mix. :)

  8. You might need a bigger tank. They just aren't getting along, with a bigger tank and lots and lots of plants/places to hide, they can get away from each other.
